Reshaping My Reality

Reshaping My Reality

Hey guys,

This is a more vulnerable post.

Thursday was therapy day, and I basically spent the session reflecting on how I’ve felt over the past seven days. We also discussed my homework assignment, which was to find two hobbies and try them for two weeks.

I’ve had a lot on my mind this week, and there were a few things I realized that I’ve really had to sit with.

The first thing I realized is that my boundaries are for me and to protect me, regardless of how someone else might feel about them.

And that brought me to my second realization: it’s always easier for someone to give their opinion on what you should do or how you should handle a situation when they don’t have to deal with it directly or they’re not the ones being affected by it.

Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one, but that doesn’t make them right all the time! 😂

Another realization this week, and something I’ve had to really sit with, is that sometimes we can ask people for things or expect them to show up in a way that simply isn’t within their capacity.

That doesn’t necessarily make them a bad person, and it doesn’t mean what you need isn’t valid.

Sometimes, it just means they don’t have the capacity to give you what you’re asking for.

And I think learning to recognize that without constantly trying to force things to be different is something I’m still working on.

Probably the biggest takeaway for me this week is that I complain at times about having to do it all myself. Having to be the one to always show up, no matter what I have going on or how I’m feeling.

But the reality is…

I’m built for it.

I didn’t sign up to be a single mom. I actually had hopes of raising my children with their fathers, as a family.

That was the life I imagined for myself.

But that’s not my journey.

And you know what?

That’s okay.

I can acknowledge that this isn’t the life I originally planned for myself without constantly wishing my reality was something different.

Maybe part of reshaping my life is accepting where I am while figuring out where I want to go from here.

So here’s to me reshaping my reality, one day at a time, all while learning and growing Dej one little adventure, activity, and discovery at a time.

I’m still figuring it out.

I’m still learning.

I’m still growing.

But I’m starting to realize that maybe finding me isn’t just about discovering what I like.

Maybe it’s also about learning to accept who I am, protecting my peace, understanding what I need, and creating a life that actually feels good to live.

One little discovery at a time. 💛
