Hi! I’m Dej. I’m a 39-year-old mother of six amazing children—four girls and two boys. My oldest will be 20 in September, and my youngest is just 9 months old.
I became a mother at 18 years old, and for most of my adult life, being a mom has been a huge part of who I am. I’ve also spent years navigating relationships, marriage, divorce, heartbreak, and some difficult life lessons along the way.
I was married for almost 10 years before going through a rough divorce. Afterward, I began consistently going to therapy and working on myself. I was doing great and learning how to heal and grow.
Then life happened again.
I met someone who appeared to be amazing, had a child, and eventually realized that not everything was as it seemed. That experience brought its own set of difficult lessons, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
And somewhere in the middle of everything, I realized something important…
Outside of being a mom, I don’t really know who Dej is.
And that’s where this journey begins.
This journey is about finding me.
Not the mom version of me.
Not the relationship version of me.
Not the wife version of me.
Simply… me.
I’m going to share some of the lessons—especially the hard ones—that I’ve had to learn over the last year or so. I’ll share the new adventures I decide to try, the experiences that push me outside of my comfort zone, the things I discover that I love (or don’t love), and everything in between.
I don’t expect this journey to always be neat or easy. Honestly, I expect it to be slightly chaotic. But I also hope it will be therapeutic, healing, and maybe even a little fun.
Dej’s Discoveries is about giving myself permission to explore, grow, heal, and discover who I am outside of the roles I’ve spent so much of my life playing.
I don’t have everything figured out.
But I’m finally ready to start finding out.
Welcome to the journey. đź’›
